Glaskogen Nature Reserve

One of the best ways to experience Glaskogen’s tranquil nature is by joining one of the small, lakeside roads that winds through the forest. Please note that the hiking trails are not suitable for cycling. For more information, please contact the tourist information centre in Lenungshammar. Mountain bike hire is available at the centre. 

Suggested routes from Lenungshammar

The Glassworks route, approx. 18 km on both tarred and unpaved road (marked in red on the map).

The Upper Gla route, approx. 30 km on dirt roads. This is a slightly more difficult route than the Glassworks route, but offers magnificent lake views (marked in green on the map).

The Gla route, approx. 60 km, mainly on dirt roads. You pass dense forest, lakes and the hamlet of Glava (marked in black on the map).

The Tenvik route, approx. 55 km on dirt roads. This is a relatively difficult track through dense forest, lakes and cultural sights (marked in purple on the map).

Glava and Älgå

The historical area surrounding Älgå and Glava is famous for its outstanding natural beauty. Visitors will also find well-preserved Viking monuments and heritage centres that open during the summer months. The road between Arvika, Älgå and Glava is paved.

Glava Glassworks Museum, Glava. Open from the 2nd of July to the 7th of August, daily 14-18. Groups can be accommodated by prior arrangement.
